# BitMEX Exchange Shutting Down

**Effective Date:** September 23, 2026 (04:00 UTC)

## What Changed

On **July 23, 2026**, BitMEX announced that it will close its exchange platform
entirely, effective **September 23, 2026 at 04:00 UTC** (the "Closure Time").
BitMEX has already stopped all new account registrations with immediate effect.
Following the Closure Time, we will no longer be able to collect any new Spot
or Futures data from BitMEX.

## What This Means for You

* **No changes today.** BitMEX will continue operating normally, and we will
  continue collecting Spot and Futures data as usual, through the Closure Time.
* Beginning **August 26, 2026**, BitMEX will restrict new position openings and
  begin force-closing existing positions to wind down the market in an orderly
  fashion, which may affect trading volume and liquidity data during this period.
* **After September 23, 2026**, no new Spot or Futures data will be ingested
  from BitMEX, as the exchange will cease all trading services.
* **Historical data** collected prior to September 23, 2026 will remain
  available and intact.
* We will update this notice if BitMEX provides any further guidance ahead of
  the Closure Time.
